The MORGAN STANLEY bank has joined a $675-million bridge loan program for Russias COMSTAR UNITED TELESYSTEMS (COMSTAR UTS). COMSTAR UTS, a major operator of integrated telecommunication services in Russia and the CIS, which is controlled by the AFK SISTEMA financial corporation, is drawing the credit to finance the purchase of 25% plus one share in the SVYAZINVEST holding company. In the middle of December 2006, COMSTAR announced plans to draw a credit from the ABN AMRO bank at the monthly LIBOR+1.6% rate. Certain reports say ABN AMRO and MORGAN STANLEY are to finance the six-month loan.
