New American sanctions have affected Sobinbank, Investcapitalbank and SMP Bank. A document was posted on the US Department of the Treasurys website on Monday.
The sanctions also target vice PM Dmitry Kozak, first deputy head of staff of the presidential executive office Vyacheslav Volodin, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, Rostekhnologii CEO Sergei Chemezov, presidential envoy to Crimea Oleg Belaventsev, head of the Federal Protective Service Evgeny Murov and chairman of the State Dumas Committee for International Affairs Alexei Pushkov.
As Banki.ru previously reported, on March 20, 2014 the United States imposed sanctions on Bank Rossiya. Washington thought that the sanctions would have an adverse impact on the lending institutions operations.
The bank would be deprived of the opportunity to carry out dollar operations. All its correspondent relations with American financial institutions would be terminated. And the United States would deal with its partners, both governments of other countries and their private entities to isolate Bank Rossiya, the American administrations representative said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, ordered the Bank of Russia to provide the bank with any support it needs and also claimed that he would open an account at the bank and have his salary processed at the bank.
