RBC DAILY. Soon Swedbank is to announce its refusal to sell the Russian branch, along with its intention to continue presence on Russian market, RBC daily newspaper wrote on Thirsday. The Swedish bank`s head office is concerned about leaving Russia, as it would be difficult for it to return to this market once left, the newspaper notes.
The main claimant for Russian Swedbank branch purchase was Finnish Retail Pohjola Bank.
Russian Swedbank stated yesterday that Swedbank never claimed to leave Russian market. “We do not comment on rumours about Swedbank Group selling its Russian affiliated company”, Swedbank press service stressed.
Pohjola Bank also declined to comment on the details of its alleged purchase of Swedbank`s Russian branch.
