The Bank of Russia has revoked a license held by Izhevsk-based Mobilbank. “The Bank of Russia herewith informs that it has adopted a decision to cancel effective August 9, 2012 a banking license held by Mobilbank OJSC," the regulator said in a press release.
On Monday RIA Novosti wired that Mobilbank, which faced difficulties in fulfilling its obligations to clients, suspended the acceptance of payments of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs under operations to wire funds to budgets at all levels and government off-budget funds, the bank said in a press release. The media wired in mid-July that Mobilbank clients faced problems to withdraw cash at ATMs and offices. The bank said it cannot pay the money to its clients because of liquidity problems.

Mobilbank OJSC is a small commercial bank by Russian standards, which is based in Izhevsk. The bank was established in October 1990. The lender focuses on operations with debt securities, lending and corporate services, and retail deposits. The banks shareholders are Alexander Khokholkov (50.33%), Yuri Ushakov (18.74%), Alexander Ermakov (13.54%), Alexander Chepik (10.07%) and Stepan Melkonov (7.32%).
As Banki.ru data show, as of July 1, 2012 the lending institutions assets stood at Rub 1.59 bln (No. 613 in Russia), capital (calculated in line with CBR requirements) came to Rub 300 mln, the credit portfolio totaled Rub 540 mln and obligations to households amounted to Rub 470 mln.
